The Lisbon Wines – Private Tour

Daily Tour 9 Hours
Portugal Tour Guide: Leonel Rodrigues

Lisbon’s wine country sits less than an hour from the city — and most visitors never taste it.

This is a private full day among small family run wineries in the Lisbon wine region. 100% electric. Your group only. Not a commercial wine bus. Real houses, real people, wines with character that still fly under the big export radar.

From €300 for the private day base · then a small per person fee · choose one day shape as extra · full total in the booking summary

The region is the heart of intimate producers: old vines, Atlantic influence, family stories, cellars that feel personal. I share winery options when you book so we match pace, taste and who is open that day.

Wine tastings are paid on site — usually about €20 to €30 per person at standard visits. Premium tastings available on request.

100% electric transportation, tailored to you

Vehicle matched to your group size for comfort. Just note anything special when you book.

What to expect

A private day in the countryside around Lisbon built for wine people and the wine curious — same welcome either way.

The Lisbon wine region is not the loudest name on the map. That is part of the point. It is full of small family run wineries with long local roots, odd and beautiful bottles, Atlantic freshness next to warmer inland styles, and a non commercial feel you rarely get in the most famous wine circus stops. History in the glass: old estates, cooperative memory, new generations cleaning up the cellar without erasing the place.

You choose how deep the day goes when you book:

One winery + scenic drives — more landscape, more road beauty, one serious tasting focus.
Two wineries — two houses, two personalities, more comparison in the glass.

In both shapes, tastings are paid directly on site, normally about €20–€30 per person. Want a longer premium tasting or food pairing? Ask when you book — available on demand when the producer can do it.

Optionally, when it fits the day and the house is open, we can look at one of the rare DOC distilled spirit cellars in the region. I flag that only if it makes sense for your group.

I send or confirm winery options at booking. Availability changes. I prefer producers I trust: character first, not a showroom script.

What to bring

  • Comfortable shoes for cellar and courtyard floors
  • Sunblock in summer and a light layer for cool cellars
  • Appetite for slow tasting — spit or sip, your call
  • Camera or phone charged

Make the day yours

One booking. Lisbon wine country. Choose the shape.

On self serve: pick one of the extras below. That sets whether the day is one house plus scenery or two houses. Winery names and the final route come when we confirm your date.

1 · One winery + scenic drives · landscape · one deep tasting
A full visit with a family producer, then time on beautiful back roads of the Lisbon region — vines, villages, Atlantic light when the route allows. Ideal if you want wine without rushing a second cellar, and you care about the drive as part of the day.

2 · Two wineries · two houses · more glass time
Morning and afternoon (or two sequential visits) with different family cellars. Contrast styles, hosts and stories. Ideal if tasting is the main reason you booked and you want comparison, not only scenery.

Lisbon wine region · the place

Read this before you book, or after, if you want the ground under the visit.

Why this region is special

Next to the capital, yet still full of unknown bottles. The Lisbon region gathers several historical wine areas under one modern umbrella — Atlantic influence, limestone and clay, old field blends, fresh whites, serious reds, and families who never needed to shout. It is the opposite of a polished wine theme park. Character over volume. That is why I run this day.

Small family run wineries

The heart of the product. People who still know which parcel is which, who pour what they actually make, who can talk soil and grandparents without a corporate script. Visits are arranged, not walk-in cattle lines. Respect for their time is part of the day. Buying a bottle is welcome when it feels right — never pushed.

Tastings · paid on site

Standard tastings are usually about €20 to €30 per person, paid at the winery. Exact price depends on the house and the flight they pour that day. Premium tastings (longer flights, older bottles, food) are available on demand when we set the booking. Your tour price covers guide, vehicle and the day — not the liquid in the glass.

Scenic drives

When you choose one winery plus scenery, the road is half the pleasure: countryside near Lisbon that feels farther than the map says. Vines, villages, viewpoints, quiet stops for air and photos between pours.

Two winery days

Two personalities. Two cellars. More wine education by contrast. We keep lunch honest so you are not tasting on an empty head or a stuffed one. Pace stays human — this is not a competition to empty glasses.

DOC spirits cellar (optional thread)

The region also holds rare distilled spirit tradition under DOC rules — one of the few such stories in Europe at this scale of place. If you care about aguardente or local spirit history and the cellar is available, we can weave a short visit into the day. Ask at booking. Not promised on every date.

How booking works

You pick the date and the shape (one + scenic, or two wineries). I come back with winery options that fit your group. Then we lock the route.
