Lisbon to Porto · Private Day
with Stops

Daily Tour 9 Hours
Portugal Tour Guide: Leonel Rodrigues

Travelling between Lisbon and Porto does not have to be a blank train window.

This is a full private day on the road. 100% electric. Your group only. Two or three real stops, lunch at a human hour, drop-off at your Porto hotel with a day that already felt like Portugal.

From €460 for the private day base · then a small per person fee · route options as extras · full total in the booking summary

The classic spine is Óbidos, Nazaré, Costa Nova and Aveiro. You can switch to another route when you book, or ask me for a custom build. Longer day, earlier start, extra stop… possible, with price adjusted.

At the end of this page there is a short description of each place, if you want some inspiration before you choose.

100% electric transportation, tailored to you

Will match the perfect vehicle to your group size for maximum comfort, including standard airline baggage allowance (one checked bag and one personal item per traveler). Need extra space for luggage? Just drop me a note when booking!

What to expect

Same travel day as a transfer. Completely different feeling.

You leave Lisbon in the morning, stop where Portugal still has texture, eat properly, and roll into Porto in the evening. Private vehicle. No luggage circus at stations. No stiff big-bus timetable.

I recommend two or three stops. That keeps the day calm. More is only for custom builds when time and energy allow.

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sunblock in summer and a light layer for the morning
  • Your luggage for Porto (we handle the load)
  • Camera or phone charged

Choose your route

One booking. Four ways to shape the day. Pick the route extra that fits you when you reserve. Limits keep the day human: one main route per booking on self-serve.

1 · Scenic Route · Óbidos · Nazaré · Costa Nova · Aveiro
The classic west spine. Medieval walls, Atlantic power, striped fishermen houses, canals and ovos moles. Best all-rounder if it is your first time between the two cities. Ginjinha in Óbidos and something sweet in Aveiro when the day flows. Lunch usually around Nazaré if we leave at 9:00.

2 · Historic Route · Tomar · Conímbriga
Inland weight. Templars and the Convent of Christ in Tomar, then Roman Portugal at Conímbriga with mosaics that stop the chatter. For guests who want stone, orders, empire and story more than beach towns. A fuller history day on the way north.

3 · Hidden Gems Route · coastal towns · medieval castle · traditions and sweets
Quieter Portugal between the big names. Fishing coast and salt air, a hilltop castle over the countryside, convent sweets (yes, Pastéis de Tentúgal territory), places many blogs skip. For travellers who already did the postcard stops or simply want a less obvious line on the map.

4 · Custom itinerary
Your mix. Coimbra, Águeda (the umbrella streets when in season), Fátima, Almourol, schist villages, Peniche, Batalha, Buçaco, Leiria, longer lunch, earlier start, slower Óbidos… Tell me what matters and we build it. Custom can run longer than the standard day; price adjusts with time, distance and stops. After booking, or before if you prefer, message me and we lock the plan.

Places along the way

Read these after you book, or if you want colour before you choose a route.

Óbidos

White walls, narrow streets, a castle town you can walk without a map marathon. Flowers on balconies, tourist shops yes, but still a real “we are in medieval Portugal” hour if we arrive before the heaviest crowd. Ginjinha is the playful ritual. On the scenic route this is usually the first proper stop out of Lisbon.

Nazaré

Atlantic town with two faces: the cliff viewpoint at Sítio, and the beach town below with fishing memory, dried fish culture, boats and a long waterfront. Giant waves are a seasonal legend, not a daily show. Even without them the cliff and the light are worth the stop. Ideal lunch window on a 9:00 departure.

Costa Nova

Quick hit of pure colour. The striped wooden houses, beach light, five good minutes that end up in everyone’s camera roll. Usually paired with Aveiro on the scenic spine, not a long visit on its own.

Aveiro

Canals, Art Nouveau corners, moliceiro boats, and ovos moles if you have a sweet tooth. Softer than Porto, saltier than inland. A gentle last urban stop before the final run north, with time to walk rather than tick a box.

Tomar

Templar heartland. The Convent of Christ is the main event: stone, symbols, Manueline flourish, a place that needs walking and listening. Town centre below for a coffee and a breath. Cornerstone of the historic route.

Conímbriga

One of the great Roman sites in Portugal. Mosaics, villa outlines, a quiet that feels far from the coast road. History you see under your feet. Pairs naturally with Tomar when you want depth instead of beach towns.

Also possible on a custom day

Coimbra

University city, river, layers of student Portugal and old stone. Strong if someone in the car cares about history and atmosphere more than surf towns.

Águeda

Famous for the hanging umbrellas when the installation is up. A cheerful photo stop and a different kind of “only in Portugal” colour. Seasonal, so we confirm dates.

Fátima

Sanctuary stop with respect and enough time to feel the place, not a drive-by. Works when faith or simple curiosity is part of the group’s reason to travel.

Almourol

Castle on a river island. Knights-and-Tagus postcard. Often linked with Tomar when the day is built inland. Boat access depends on season and timing.

Schist villages

Stone villages, slate tones, mountain quiet. A completely different Portugal from Óbidos-and-beach. Needs time and the right road mood. Better as a custom or historic-inland leaning day.

Peniche

Working fishing peninsula, walls, Atlantic wind, seafood culture. A tougher, salter coastal flavour than Nazaré’s postcard cliff.

Other pieces we can weave in

Batalha, Alcobaça, Buçaco, Leiria, Figueira da Foz, Tentúgal sweets, a longer winery lunch, a slower coffee in a town you liked the name of. If it fits the clock and the road to Porto, we talk.
