His knowledge and passion for sharing the amazing sites of his country made this trip one of the best we've been on. We visited Aviero, Nazare, and Obidos on our transfer from Porto to Lisbon. We learned a lot about these 3 places and enjoyed the sites. Leonel recommended a great restaurant for lunch away from all the tourists that was so delicious and filling! Hands down the finest, most knowledgeable guide that we could have asked for. We scheduled two private tours with him. First, my husband is a history lover and wanted to learn more about the Peninsular War and the Linhas de Torres Vedras outside of Lisbon. As it happens, that is exactly the area Leonel lives and was thrilled to share the history of this event on my husband's private tour. He took the time to drive to some of the significant sites and in between shared his vast knowledge of the events that occurred during that time. It was most definitely a highlight for my husband. Second tour was to take four of us to the secret places in Sintra. After we left the city center thronging with tourists, we wandered through the parkland grounds of Biester Palace. You could feel the mystical aura, the peace, solitude and beauty that is the real Sintra. We only encountered a small handful of people on this walk and our tour of the beautiful palace with extraordinary woodwork and details. The views of the other palaces and castles were gorgeous and you knew that people were being herded through them like cattle. Leonel was such a blessing guiding us through some of the most memorable and picturesque places we would have never found on our own. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the day memorable. As my wife could not join us, we began with a walking work the town of Sintra. We explored back streets that larger tours could not access and kept ahead of the larger tours in the central parts of the town. We approached the Pena Palace through the park that surrounds it, always with great insights into the creation of the park and its natural beauty. Leonard\u2019s insights into the history and creation of the palace were amazing and extremely knowledgeable. Ditto for the Moorish Castle. All in all a wonderful 6 hours in his company. My wife and I spent 2 separate days with Leonel for a private tour of Sintra as well as travel from Lisbon to Porto with a tour of Coimbra We were extremely impressed with both experiences as Leonel is very knowledgeable with the history of the area and he was able to maximize our time enjoying the experience. Sintra is not easy for tourists to navigate so I highly recommend Leonel\u2019s skills to get around issues there. We had one of the most beautiful experiences of our 12-day trip walking specific nature garden trails of Pena Palace that Leonel knew about with breath taking views. As a history buff, I was also impressed with his deep knowledge of Portugal. Special treat, Leonel knows the best local Portuguese restaurants and pastry shops in all the cities we visited! He made our experience very pleasantly memorable and stress free. Leonel guided us on waking tours through the amazing National Palace at Queluz, the incredible Medival village in Obidos, and the beautiful coastal town of Ericeira. He is a wealth of knowledge and full of interesting facts and information. Every stop was amazing, and the drive was very scenic and enjoyable.
